The Hippo Office (Daniel)
The Hippo Office in Tokyo is set so clearly apart from every other office in the world, partly because of the warm atmosphere that the workers have created. The people here are very kind and are glad to help whenever I need it. They are very supportive and patient as I get accustomed to life in Japan.
Japanese offices, unlike American offices, are not separated by cubicles. Instead, desks are lined up in long rows facing each other, somewhat similar to the TV series "The Office."
As an intern at Hippo, my responsibilities include helping review and edit English documents, review monthly reports written by Hippo students abroad, helping with English interviews for yearlong exchange students, and participating in Hippo meetings, events and workshops. Lastly, interns are informed that they are responsible for making lots of friends, which is absolutely fine with me!
Although it may seem like working in an office would be a boring thing to do, especially for an adventurous person like myself, that is not the case. For one thing, I am also required to travel throughout Tokyo to give presentations about Hippo and multiculturalism in elementary and middle schools. I will even get to travel throughout Japan in order to attend Hippo Family events and clubs. I love it.
Lastly, probably the COOLEST thing about this job is that it is a few minutes away from Shibuya station and the infamous Shibuya crossing.
I get to work for this company...
...in this building...
...in this room...
...at this computer.

I have the immense opportunity of working here everyday.
